My New Truck - Need Battery Cables!
Hey guys, I just joined the 12V club! Sold my 2006 Ram Megacab 4 weeks ago and bought a 98 Ram 3500 Dually 12V just two weeks ago. See sig, got a great deal on my truck, bought it for $6,500 and the previous owner put around $6,500 in mods. Engine runs great, Body & drivetrain in great shape, just needs some minor attention to details.
Had to replace fuel-shutoff solenoid and adjust the 4K GSs. Previous owner had put in 4K GSK, but never adjusted the governor springs. Boy, did I learn a lot about the P7100 in a short time! I hope I never have to do that again!
Well, I got thru it. But, I need to get new battery cables, current ones are shot. Any idea on where to get some OEM cables at a decent price. I thought about fabricating my own, but was hoping to find some already set up.
Thanks for the help, you guys have always been a great help in the past!

I just built one of my own using 2/0 cable, military battery clamp, copper lugs and a cheap hammer style crimper. I put it off for a long time, but it worked out better than I thought it would. I got some parts locally and some from this vendor http://www.delcity.net/ . This was the main positive going to the starter, I used a number of other connectors to attach the power to the fuse block, grid heaters, etc. Coated all with either shrinkwrap liquid tape or both. I was going to order from the CustomBatteryCable guy but he always seems to be months behind.

Are the "cables" shot or just the battery terminal?
My battery terminals were bad but the cable itself was fine. I cut off the battery terminals and crimped ring terminals on the cables. I get military style battery clamps from NAPA.
I made a few sets of replacement cables using all 2/0 cable and crimped ring terminals. Ground cables & starter cable I use welding cable for the high flex. The positive to positive battery cross over cable is regular 2/0 as you don't want the flex of welding cable.

Heavier never hurts, except the wallet. The more juice you can get to the starter, the longer it will live.
Do it right, do it once. There are custom cable shops that do a great job. There's also many links on DTR to battery cable replacement threads.
Here's one that's been used from time to time.
