Miles on your lift pump

Hey guys , just wondering how many miles did you get out of you lift pump . I just did 400 mile run and just noticed the tick tick at idle .
My cummins just 180k with the original lift pump , I knew it was a matter of time before I would have to put one on .
Runs fine and the tick is only at idle , I'm going to change the fuel filter but also call my local cummins dealer and get a price on a pump .
I did see a couple factory cummins pumps on ebay for around 75 bucks .

Mine lasted right around 200,000 before it started losing pressure and making noise.

I have 290,000 and still running fine.
Ticking? What about overflow valve getting weak and making noise?

On my 2500 the pump went at 220k, the 3500's still has the original pump at 255k.

Forget ebay, you can buy the OEM pump from either Cummins or www.genosgarage.com for $79.
You can get a the best deal on an overflow valve on ebay though.
Before you start throwing parts at it do this, it's cheaper http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/94...-12-valve.html

I never made it to the cummins dealer to price it out , I did install a new filter and the ticking seemed to stop , I know there was about 15K on that filter , maybe the filter was putting a load on the pump .... seems happy now .
Trucks running fine , I will pick up a pump just encase .

Mine began to drip at about 210,000 but I didn't get it changed out until I hit about 220,000 miles.

I worked for a Dodge dealership as a service adviser during the late 90's until 2009.. This was a questions people can in and ask ..My answer was app. 120k is average some at 60k and some at 200k but about 120k seemed to be the norm on your 1st pump ..I'd think only about 20% got by w/out having to have a new Injection pump.

Sounds like a dealership answer. I got over 300k on the original pump and nearly 400k from the second. I obtained a new spring for the original pump and reinstalled it. I've put about 15k on it so far.

Well there were a lot that came in and still had orginals on them but about 120k was what I saw as an average over about 7 years and several a week .. I never heard of a spring for replacement ..But remember at a dealership you fix it CORRECT the 1st time ....

Mine went at 210,000. Buy studs and nuts when you change it. Don't fool around with those da_ _ bolts.

225K, thought the noise I was hearing was the pump, changed it, still have an unidentified noise, not as bad however. I think my fuel filter is past due anyway so that needs to get changed. At least I convinced myself that it was not a cam lobe - that is $$$$$$$$ I do not want to spend.
