Loud Engine

Is it normal for a modded engine to be louder than a stocker? Not speaking about exhaust system loud but the engine itself. I have a 4 inch MBRP system and it's fairly quiet there. I don't like getting on the bad side of neighbors when I leave for work at 4 AM. see my profile for mods

You might just think its louder - they don't really get any louder - plus the tone from the exhaust can come into play and you might think its from the engine bay.

Timing can change the sound. I haven't really noticed any difference in the noise from my trucks.

I had a 2000 that was psycho loud. When backing our camper and dump trailers into the driveway, it would rattle the neighbours plates in their houses. Driver through restaurants were a no no and don't even try to hold a conversation on the highway.
