loss of power

Well yesterday was pulling the travel trailer home and about 10 psi of boost is all the girl would make. she will usally do over 35 lbs boost and mak out pyro, but not now only about 1000 degs with 12 lbs boost if I am lucky. She has about 190k on her and this the first time she has not responded when you push the go pedal. She also has been losing prime after sitting a night or two.. Just changed fuel filter and all looks good there. Intercooler boots look ok, just looking for a few more ideas to get the girl going again. Thanks

Hmmm....If you could put a fuel gauge on her and see what your pressure is at...Could be your LP or the overflow valve...Also cleck to make sure your startup switch is putting the linkage all the way up(had this problem on my truck, would run perfect but was gutless)...Your problem is your not fueling up for some reason...

Check fuel return line at injector pump. could be cracked and causing hard start.

Well [I] replaced the fuel filter and had the o ring on the filter pinched. So that is god now. Did notice that the gasket between the intake horn and grid heater was blown out. Was losing quite a bit there/ replaced gasket and still the same low boost. Can get only 12 lbs or so and pyro runs about 900. Before all this I had to watch temp when it locked up in overdrive or it would just keep going past the 1300 mark. Man what a dog to drive with only 12 lbs of boost. Will check the screen in the fuel heater next, then think about droping tank and check screen there. Guess I also need to add fuel pressure gauge.
Thanks to all for the help with this one.

Well looks like I found the problem, the boost line from intake to AFC was melted together, now looking for a replacement, It is 3/16" nylon with a factor flare and 2 o-rings- Nothing at the local parts store and now the Dodge dealer tells me he can not find any listing. Anyone have any ideas.
Thanks

Interesting solution to your problem, wl7he. I have thread going for what sounds similar to your symptoms. I looked at this line on my truck and it didn't look unusual or deformed like I'd think a melted together line would. Besides running some Stanadyne fuel system cleaner through it and checking the fitting for the fuel feed line going into the fuel heater I'm going to check that boost line a little closer for signs that I might have missed earlier. Thanks for providing us with what you found.

No problem Steve: After the fix I remebered something about a valet switch for our 12 v motors, and this is a good way to prevent the boost and worrys about someone else running your rig, but except for my wife can not think of anyone else that would be driving my truck. Now to get the tranny 100% and things wil be looking good, but as soon as the tranny is 100% I am sure a few more mods will be on the way, bigger injectors, gsk, HD valve springs and the list goes on.

Could you explain, what line was the culprit? I have a similar problem with no power. I don't have a boost gauge, or fuel pressure. I did clamp the line from the wastgate in the turbo, and she came back to what it should be for power. However, that is not the fix...

So you must be talking about another line? What exactly is the AFC?

Thank you for any help you could offer.

Traver: Sorry about the long delay in replying, the line from the AFC housing that goes to intake was the problem for me. That gives the AFC the signal to allow the AFC to give it more fuel (boost, fire, smoke etc). If you look around the top back side towards firewall you will see the line

No prob about the reply, I haven't been on much.

I still am not sure what you are refering to as th AFC? Diesels are totally new for me, and am learning as I go. Thanks again fore the help, I will do some more searching for bad vacuum lines.

Traver.
