looking for a cummins...a few questions

So im going to be looking for my first cummins soon and was wondering about the fuel pumps and stuff.

ive heard around here about there being a 180 and a 215 pump and even a CA 160 pump.... how can you tell the difference? what models/years/locations would i find a 215 pump in?
did all CA cummins have the 160 pump on them?

and also im looking in a lot off other states too, which states should i avoid because of salt on the icy roads corroding everything?

The hp is listed on a panel that is riveted to the drives side of the front cover.

I think the 215 were only in manuals in the 97 and 98s. But here could be more years.

The 215pump is on a 96-98 manual trans, 180 is 96-98auto, 175 is 94-95man and 160is 94-95auto not really shure about CA trucks

I believe the California trucks with a manual from '96-'98 had the 180 pump.
