its a 1990 dodge with a leak right at the pump where the return line hooks up. the truck will fall on its face bad somtimes is this the cause. or any other sugestions.

 

Its a royal pain but you have to get back there and replace that small piece of fuel hose.
If you take the nuts off the master cylinder and move the fuel filter (not sure where the filter is on a 1st gen) you should have plenty of room.
Try to purchase some good quality USCG-rated marine fuel hose. You may have to heat the ends with some hot water to soften it up and get over the barb on the tube.
