Brake/ABS Light lights up doing brakestand

When doing a brakestand, or just pushing the brake to the floor at a intersection for S&G, I can set off the ABS & Brake lights.

Any idea why this would happen? The brakes still work fine, but the light stays lit for about 5 minutes.
This also happens at the drag strip when building boost.

Thanks in advance.

Well I notice that the brakes are spongy usually but if I make a emergency stop, my brakes will be hard/responsive for a few minutes, then go crappy again/spongy.

The factory service manual, if you have access to one, has instructions for getting the ABS computer to give trouble codes telling you what is wrong.

I had a Chevy van that acted the same way. Finally the pedal dumped to the floor and the brake light stayed on. Replaced the master and everything was good until the warranty expired (rebuilt). Spend $5 more for a new unit with lifetime warranty.

I've got brake problems in the cold weather, but I traced that to my power steering (hydro boost) system.

Good info, thanks!

My hydroboost is brand new and is a high flow custom unit.

Could the master cylinder cause my power steering to suck as well, seeing as how the brakes get fluid from the PS pump FIRST and foremost before getting to the Power steering?

I noticed at the end of the 1/4 mile my brake pedal has hardly any resistance and is nearly at the floor, but the brakes work, just not very well.
