when i pulled mine off to get the afc off it looked like the compression fittings on air brake lines. it has the nut and the ferrule inside that crushes onto the line just like a oil or turbo line. i'm thinking i would use air brake stuff since it's made not to leak and you can get the npt on one end and air fitting on the other. i noticed it didnt have the nipple that air brake lines have tho. not sure why but i don't think if you replace both ends and the line itself it is gonna hurt.

air line will work. do you have extra tubing that you used for your boost guage? or any line as long as it has the compression fittings

hello, i just rebuilt my valet switch and used 1/8 to 3/16 brass ferral fittings on the manifold and afc housing. (kind of like your brass boost guage fitting on the manifold) 4 fittings, 1 ball valve(inside cab), 10ft 3/16 hose=$10.00

I used air brake hose on mine.

One thing to consider, I noticed that one of the original brass fittings (can't remember wich one) has a restricting orfice built into it. My thinking on this was it was put there to prevent massive amounts of air from entering the crankcase if the AFC diphram was to ever tear. Somthing to keep in mind.

Hmmm what do you think the extent of the damage would be if the diaphram was torn with a modified afc line???

I realy have no idea what or if any dammage would be done it you rammed 40psi boost through a wide open line into the pump. You could always put a valve in the line and pinch it back.

In fact I have a valve ran into the cab where I can controll the rate the AFC moves forwards or put it into full valet mode. It worked good to controll smoke with the stock and hybrid chargers I had with -300hp fueling. With the 62-14 charger and -400hp fueling it REALY shines when towing and eliminates the surge (bark) I would get by slowing the fueling rate down. Going this route it is neccesary to put a small valve down stream of your throttle valve to bleed off air that could be trapped between it (throttle valve) and AFC

OK guys, not to hijack a thread, but I HAVE to ask.

What is this "valet mode" thing - what's DO and what does it do it with? I have searched archived posts and found a lot of references to it, but never come across a description of what etc.

Please, somebody, enlighten me?

The Valet on a 12 valve is simply a device (ball valve) that will interrupt the air signal from the manifold to the AFC. I use it to save on fuel and keep my egts in check when in the vegi mode.....
