Like a bad dog won't come back an bite you. Probablly the tank to tubes connections / gasket is weak. High pressure after shut down forced unsealing. Next time pressure goes high the leak will return. With age you might look for rad assy and be done with. Some good aftermarket pieces are avalaible and save a ton of money. Look on internet.
Mine did the same thing, but over time it got worse to the point of replacement. Leaks rarely fix themselves.
Apparently there is a radiator site that sells a repair kit for the side saddle tank seam to the main body. I have read of others on this site who have used it with success. Might be worth checking out.

it did the same exact thing again to me today.leaked in the morning now it isnt. im gonna try to make the 150 mile trip to phoenix where i have acces to tools and such. i put some stop leak in it. hopfully it will hold. also will pick up a new radiator while im down there in phoenix. chepest i have found is $259 at napa. does anyone have a cheaper idea besides the internet bc it wont get there in time?
hi
i had the same prob with my 98 12v .
it had a signifigant leak !
put in a bottle of bars leak , the kind that looks like alluminum filings in a liquid , slowe up right away and eventualy sealed compleatly !
has not leaked in almost 1 year !
it worked for me !
