wanna get a new T/C, dont wanna get taken advantage of
Ill soon have enough money for a new T/C and/or valve body. I dont know much about transmissions, and dont wanna go to the shop and just tell them to put in a new T/C. My truck goes down the road just fine i guess. I'm not aware of anything that might be a problem. Sometimes when its loaded with my camper, it starts to shudder quite bad when holding a certain speed. if i back off a little it goes away. I want an excuse to spend the money, but im not sure if i just want to walk into the shop and ask them to take it from me. Right now i feel like im just gonna be telling the shop, "Everyone on this websight says to get a new T/C and valve body." I live in Utah and just want to go to a shop in my own state. most of the shops on this sight are located to far away. what does everyone think?

Would suggest reading here before doing "just a VB and a TC".

Do it right the first time...saves money in the long run!
Believe DTT has a shop in Utah. Call them..nice people and costs you nothing.......to call.

Baker's Diesel in Ogden is a authorized DTT shop I believe.
Call DTT, ATS, Suncoast and Goerend, all are respectable and won't take advantage of you.
Tell them what you want, what you plan, and how you plan to use it, and they will tell you what you need to get, how much it is, and if they have authorized shops close to you.

I can only talk about my experience with DTT- but what they do state on their website is that the TC lockup clutch will slip if it ain't got enough pressure, and that leaks will cause low pressure sounds very reasonable to me. (I've rebuild my own tranny with DTT stuff, it still works after more than 190 000 kms so I'm partial )
The logic that you shall not only replace the part that failed but also the part that caused the failure appeals to me.
The update kit contains all the seals, o-rings, frictions, steel plates, a front piston, apply lever, band strut etc so you can rebuild your transmission with it to some better than stock level. To address some more potential leakage paths I'd also take the 2nd gear servo and the accumulator piston and the VB gasket kit. With that you are a little over what DC had in mind when they designed the tranny, it will hold more torque than a perfect stocker. And you are ready to go for a TC and VB when the necessity arised and the funds allow.
I'm shure that other reputable vendors like goerend, ats, .... will also be able to supply the necessary stuff for you, but I can only report my experiences with DTT that are excellent.

Keep us informed. That update kit sounds interesting. I would like to hear more about it. My trans was rebuilt under warranty a year ago. That might be an option for me instead of a complete rebuild.
