KPP Cracked case, Fix opinions

Ok, have a truck in the shop, KDP came out and cracked the case. Customer really just wants me to temporary fix it with jb weld and hope it don't leak for a bit. He really wants to put in a cam if we have to do the case and is short the extra 600 bones+ labor. So any of you guys tried jb welding it up real good and have any luck.. We were planning on just installing the 4k kit, high flow delivery valves, 60lb valve springs and tabbing the kdp, but it wasn't there

Where is the crack?

Greenie blew out the top of the case, I built a bridge with 3M Aluminum tape and went over that with JB weld. Working so far, I leak some, but manageable.

I intend to build a steel cover, but no time yet........

JB weld will work, but I would have him sign a statement that is what he wants done before I would stick my neck out.
Also, sir, this type of work doesn't do your shop any good in credibility!!!
Two cents ain't worth much these days.

Most every KDP cracked case I've seen also hairline cracks where the case joins the block.
This greatly compromises the structural integrity of the case. If not taken care of correctly the case can crack all the way in half and make a huge mess.

I've had great success with JB Weld but wouldn't use it on the case except for a temporary band-aid.
To weld the case correctly it should be removed. Once you go that far might as well buy a new case.

I just got finish with repairing my truck correctly, at first I did a temporary repair with JB weld and seemed to bond well when I first did it But when my new case came in and I removed the old case the peice that was JB welded in poped out without much effort.
I pulled the gear off the camshaft and then heated it back up to slip it back on, Not too bad to do
