KDP kit install

So I got the parts/kit to tab the KDP sitting on my work table , was going to do it last weekend but I did not have a wrench to take off the fan clutch and did not want to scar it up with a drift and hammer. well this moring while I was letting the truck warm up I noticed oil dripping from the front of the truck and I have a busted timing case cover now. the engine still runs so I was lucky. My question is what is the normal repair? a new timing case or is using a epoxy to seal it back up OK

I put a new updated case on mine. You have to pull the cam out to do so. So plan a whole weekend if you tackle the job. (I had never done it before). I cant remember but I think the case was between 300-400 dollars at a cummins dealer. I would have siliconed or epoxied it but I wanted to see what all had happened in there. And be sure to locktite all your bolts (case and cover) mine on the cover backed out. Guess I didnt tighten enuf and they rattled loose.
Good luck.

1st of all you're not going to get the fan clutch off with just a wrench. Remove the entire pulley.

.I've found that even with the correct wrenches you still have to use a drift and hammer often enough that I don't even try not not beating on the nut.
I've never scared up a nut beating on it.

I got it apart and the dowel was sitting on top of the gear.
I am going to clean up the case and use JB weld.

Easiest thing to do. I take the fan assembly out with the shroud, but some guys can sneak the fan out without removing the shroud.

With that big of a chunk taken out of the case I'm sorry but give your glue job a week at the most before it fails.
Bet if you look closely you'll find the case is cracked on the back side where it joins the block. If it isn't it will be with that chunk just glued in.
The case's structural integrity has been compromised greatly, save yourself a lot of work now and in the future by fixing it right the first time.

I've used JB Weld many times, it's good stuff, but not that good.
