KDP info

i know im bad for saying this but what are the chances that the KDP fell out and went to a happy place? i have 215,000 miles and didnt find out what a KDP was until about 200,000. so far no problems with anything on the truck. when driving they are no sounds other than that sweet cummins beast under my hood. were does the KDP go when it comes out? can it work its way through the gears in there? is their any way to see if its still in besides drilling?

Yes, take off the timing cover and look. Tab it at the same time. Dowel pin failure knows no mileage factor, it can happen at any time. '97s are the most prone to failure.
Your choice if $50 worth of parts and some labor time is cheap insurance or you'd rather risk $2000 plus in damage if the pin falls out.

A friend just bought a 94 CTD with 285,000 miles.
I've known the truck since new.

A couple of weeks after he bought the KDP went south.

A new gear housing , cam , and a couple of gears later all is good.

I've also seen them go in 60,000 miles

Moral of the story.

If it hasn't been checked DO IT SOON !
