i have 208000 miles on my 96.the motor is all stock,i have no oil leaks or any problems with the motor.i dont know the history of the truck .is there anyway i can tell if the kdp has already been taken care of? with this many miles if it hadnt been done am i lucky so far or is does it normally happen sooner? thanks
Mileage makes absolutely no difference, you should take care of it.
I saw one that came out and cracked the gear case at 345k miles.
The only way to know for sure if the pin has been taken care of is to remove the front cover.
If the paint on the cover bolts looks undisturbed you can assume it hasn't been taken care of.
If the paint looks disturbed it doesn't mean anything, the cover could have been removed to fix a leak.
