Interesting Question

I was offered a bet tonight.

$1000.00 to beat a BMW 645ci (stock) in a 1/4 mile. HOw much will it cost me to get my stock 95 dodge in shape to do this?

It seems like it is possible, so what do I need to do?

Thanks.

You will need a built tranny with most the billet doo-dads, and 400+ HP I would geuss. Do you know what year it is and what it can potentially run in the quarter stock? Also do you have a single cab or club or oversized tires, big bumpers; any of that stuff will hurt you... I'm going to say your going to need atleast...

Injectors (370's or greater)
191 DV's (again or greater)
#0 plate
More rack travel
Timing
SPS or HTT 62mm or bigger turbo

Maybe more but that should get you started...

If he has to turn a 13.8.... This should be a good combo

17* timing
built tranny with billet input, and flexplate
#0 plate
4k GSK
191 delivery valves
New Era 370 injectors
SPS 62/14 or 64/12(possibly just hybrid your stock turbo with a bigger housing)

More than likely that 13.9 is under the best conditions, so you might only need to turn a 14 flat or so depending on the driver of the car.

what is a ballpark to make those mods?

$5000.00? $6000.00?

The Tranny alone would be 4k?

Purely guessing at the costs (which can vary a lot depending on how much cost comparison you do and what configuration/parts you actually purchase):

Tranny(high end) = $6000K, Injectors = $800, Fuel plate = $500, GSK = $500, DVs = $500, Turbo =$2000, Timing adj = $200

Total (including labor) = $10500

Woah. Dont mean to offend you, but you are a little high on most of those prices You gonna scare the poor guy to death

-Transmission: abour $4500 with billet input/ouput. If you got everything billet it is 6k or more.
-Injectors: $400 from new era if you send them your cores
-Fuel Plate: A grinder can get you more power than an aftermarket plate for free
-Timing: $150 give or take
-GSK: $130 or so. I think its another $200 for valve springs
-Delivery Valves: From $250-$300
-Turbo: $1500-$2000

Labor could be quite a bit if you are paying someone to do it. But like jester said, the parts vary in price depending on who you go with.

I agree with Eric on this one

timing needs to be up there to really fuel the truck hard on the upper RPM, you are at an advantage if he is a manual, and u have a built auto, BOOYAH! no losing boost between shifts thus u either get up to him or pass him while he shifts. Injectors will be fine with the 370s, 191 DV's are ALOT of fuel for a stock turbo, but if you are goin with an SPS either choice will work, or if you want more, put an S400 underneath the stocker Also do what you can to drop the weight on the truck, that will help you out alot..

My transmission choice would be Dave Goerend. www.gbtransmissions.com. 100k mile unlimited year warranty on the tranny, and a lifetime warrantied torque converter. He is based in Iowa. His basic tranny is $3200, and then about $650 for the billet input. and $400-$500 for the billet flexplate. He has awesome customer service, and is priced as low as anyone from what I have seen. That would be my choice..

DTT or Goerend.

cumminsdriver635: I'm not offended because your correct, I did estimate a bit high and I also included installation labor. I figured it was better to be high then low.

Yep, you are right on that. Much better to estimate high than low... Gives you some extra to work with, and you dont get caught off gaurd.
