Interesting findings with TPS

My TPS was acting up a year or so ago so I just manually wired a TQ lockup switch and unhooked the TPS (O/D has never worked, so I don't worry about it.) I would always get out of the throttle most of the way right before I flip the switch because I knew the TQ didn't like to be locked up under much throttle.

Recently I've been trying to sell my truck so I decided to try to fix the TPS. I had ****** up the electrical connector with my testing so I basically made a new one. Seemed to be testing good. I had also bored out my TPS mounting holes pretty good and when I reinstalled it it was way more clockwise than the factory position. I started driving for a week or so by hitting the O/D on/off button to off and letting the computer lockup the TQ. It would do it sometimes at 3/4 throttle. I thought that was a little odd, and a couple days later I started to get a burning smell. At first I thought I had a brake dragging but after a couple more days I realized I was burning my tranny fluid because the computer was locking up the TQ under so much throttle. I changed the tranny fluid and went back to using my switch and the burning smell has gone away now.

I just thought this was an interesting side effect of playing with the TPS without fully understanding what you are doing.
