Injector time?
Injector time?
My rig has 267,000 miles now.
I have done nothing to the injectors but my mileage isn't what it once was and she just doesn't seem to have the same umph.
Only smokes black when I stomp on it but it doesn't seem as crisp as before. I've owned it since new.
So, is it time to pull the injectors?
Does it make sense to have them tested and rebuilt?
If I just buy new ones what do you suggest?
The truck is basically stock with the exception of exhaust and air cleaner and fuel plate.
I don't want a bomber, just another 500,000 miles (or more).
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
P

Probably wouldn't hurt, I know mine is not quite what she was now at 171,000.
I probably won't play around, yea you can have them gone thru, but for not that much more you can put in a set of DDP2's.
I'm the same way, no real BOMBing plans, just longevity and mileage.

Your Over Flow Valve might be getting weak and not giving the injection pump the pressure it wants.
The spring in them gets weak and allows the pressure to slowly drop over the miles.
If you stand on the pedal once the engine is warm, and bring it up the the rev limiter, does it "sputter" and smoke white?
If so try clamping the return fuel line [small bit of rubber hose behind fuel filter] and try revving it up again.
If it is better get a OFV.
DON'T leave the clamp on the return line any longer than needed to do that test.
