Question Injector Question

Can fouled or dirty injectors cause increased EGT? I'm experencing a rapid increase in exhaust temps with the slightest load or uphill grade. Like 65mph, just over 2000rpm, 25psi boost, #11 plate, 4" exhaust.
Thanks ... Ken Gardner

Hi Ken,
I'd have a close look at all the intercooler boots for leaks/cracks that may only show up under a certain pressure, say, 20+psi Are you running on straight veggie? I suppose the injector holes could coke up, but it seems unlikely given the temps inside the combustion chamber. Also, could be your timing has slipped---does the engine seem quieter than it once was?

As an aside, I finally got my hands on a 6/1 (bought 2, actually) and am looking for a couple 5kw 1800 heads, if you know of any.

Not sure if i"m reading this wrong but that boost seems exessive for a 65mph cruise? As posted generally higher than normal egts sound like a boost leak issuse but the #s you posted are not reflecting a boost leak but a serious overfueling ?

I had just started to pull an uphill grade. Normally the boost is 10-15 when cruising 65mph.

This engine has not seen WVO since the rebuild. When I do run WVO I start and shut down on diesel, only running it when things are heated up properly. I use a two tank setup.
I did check all the boots, pipes, and cooler for leaks, every thing looked good. The injectors were damaged from being overheated, I had exhaust temps go beyond 1600* for a couple minutes, very bad news for the engine. I'll check out the timing today, thanks for the tip.

In regards to the generator heads, look for "ST" type gen heads, I feel they are the best way to go. I have a 12kw that has run without problems for some time now. It really gets a workput as we live off grid. Checkout the Lister Engine Forum;http://listerengine.com/smf/index.ph...=3;sa=expand#3
Thanks .... Ken
