Angry injector lines leak

took my injector lines off to retorque the head bolts a couple months ago and checked yesterday and #4 and 5 where leaking pretty bad from between the line and injector. took the nut off and cleaned the seat and put it back on but it still leaks a fair bit. is there an oring or some kinda seal that might b broken in there? looks to me like just a tapered seat, metal on metal contact seal. what am i missing?? seems like this should b able to be done and not hafta replace lines or injectors every time. or should this b an excuse for some 5x12s?

If you have a 3M Scotchbrite pad or fine emery, you could just touch up the end of the injector line and clean out the injector. Doesn't take much of a grain or small piece to cause a leak.

You're right, they have just a tapered seat, no o-rings and you don't need to replace the lines when you remove them. When you reinstalled the lines, did you torque the nuts? I only ask because over torquing injector lines is the leading cause of leaks and not too many people have the proper cut-out socket to torque them. The spec is a surprisingly low 18ft/lbs - not much at all. Over-torquing them can damage the seats. Check the seats on the leaking injector lines for any damage - cracks or deformities. On a slightly damaged seat, I've had luck working the nut back and forth while tightening it up - sort of re-forms/seals the seat.

Over-torquing also can bend the top of the nut so much that the treads bottom out before pressure is fully applied to the line.
Don't think you can replace just the nut.

thanks guys. just cleaned it again and now its leaking worse. now about that overtorquing thing....i think that might b it lol. See my train of thought was if its leaking it must b loose, so i kept cranking on it guesstimating around 50-60 ft-lbs? but i did notice that the threads looked bottomed out and thot that was weird. o well, i needed new sdx 5x12's anyways right?

Haha it easy to have a great attitude about wrecking stock stuff cause then I have a legit excuse to get upgraded performance parts! but good stuff to know so I don't wreck the New injectors or lines......

I think Infidel was talking about the nut stretching on the tubing lines themselves.. New injectors won't fix that.

What the heck, you have to remove the lines to swap injectors anyways, might as well replace them since you're halfway there.
The lines are sort of pricey though...
