huge oil leak

Hey guys, Im not new, but since my old profile wouldnt work anymore, not sure why. I made a new one.
96 3500.
Ive got a nasty oil leak. The AFC housing top, i think thats what it is. is leaking like filthy mess.
It was fine before, naturally. Been at least 8 months since ihad it open to switch fuel plates. So i finally look at it, seems i had forgotten one of the bolts when i put the cap back on.
So anyways , seems like an easy enough fix. First i wanted to know

1. Was there supposed to be a gasket there? I dont recall one when i had it open.

2.I really really hope theres supposed to be that much oil circulating there.

When i looked under the hood with it running, it was just oozing out , right where the top and bottom half come together.

So i know what it will take to stop the leak, just wanted to make sure oil was supposed to be circulating inthere to begin with.

Thanks

The gasket on the AFC cover is an O-ring that stays attached to the cover when it is removed. Perhaps the missing screw (and perhaps the other 3 screws coming loose) could have contributed to the leak.

Engine oil circulates in the P7100 pump for lubrication so it is normal for you to see oil in there.

OK thanks,
Before i went ahead and just tightend everything down, I wanted to make sure oil was not circulating somewhere that it shouldnt be.
