huge oil leak coming from the thing that the crankcase vent tube is hooked to

ok, just put on brand new head, exhaust manifold, and turbo, now i drove it about 8 miles and came back home to realize about 2 quarts of oil leaked out of what i believe to be the long thing that runs along side the drivers side of the block that the crandkcase vent tube hooks in to. That never leaked before and now leaks like hell, has anyone else had this problem after doing a head gasket or new head, and if so how hard is it change that gasket out behind that "thing that the crankcase vent tube hooks in to"??? It looks like the injector pump needs to be removed but im not sure, all input on this subject will be greatly appreciated

It's called the tappet cover and the gasket would be very easy to replace if the injection pump wasn't in the way, it has to come off.
It shouldn't leak due to the work you just did. I'd make sure the leak isn't coming from above, like a valve cover.

Could be crank case over pressure from a leaking head gasket. Make sure you get a good re-torque done and see if the leak goes away.

i think its the tappet cover because when i was putting the new head on, i messed up putting in 2 (missed the hole) pushrods and they were bent to hell and i think they might have pushed on the cover from the inside causing this new huge leak. I guess its not good to be in a hurry putting these things together

if i want to do this repair myself, what is involved in taking the pump off and putting it back on, and if you do this do you have to re time the pump??

You can pin the pump, and pop the gear off the shaft and remove the pump. As long as you don't turn the engine, you will keep the same timing.

It will stay right in the case, not enough room for it to go anywhere.

i pinned the pump at top dead center, the only thing is that it feels like its jammed in there pretty good, is that normal? do you normally have to pull on the steel end of that pin with pliers to get it out when you are ready to free the pump up? I hope i didnt mess anything up

If you torque the nut at all, it will make it difficult to pull the pin. When I timed my truck on the side of the road, I needed pliers to pull the pin out.
