kdp question/ timing test???
kdp question/ timing test???
hey guys, this is a question coming from someone with not much mech. knowledge, so sorry if it's a dumb one, but...
i don't really even know how the kdp is used, but i was wondering if instead of going through all the fuss to prevent it from falling out, you could just pull it out and keep it your glove box and put it back in as it is needed? (i'm assuming that it does not play a functional role in it's normal position)
also, is there a (relatively simple) way for the shade tree mechanic to test the timing on the 12v ip???

The dowel pin
was needed to keep everything in alignment when they would put the engines in our 12V trucks. It is a needed part. the best thing to do is tab it and keep it in there. Its not a hard procedure to do, do a search on here for KDP repair using TST kit, i wrote up that article for newbies to take on. You can do it..
as far as the timing goes, i do not know anything about it, except that you might need a kit to time and or test the pump..

timing the 12 valve
in order to time your CTD you need a dial indicator w/base and a few other accesories that make the job a bit easier. They are available from Snap-On and I am sure some of the other tool dist.It is cheaper to just have a decent mechanic set you up unless you will be doing this often.<><
