I drove a 94 with stacks in it. they are like 6" and it was not bad at all. the truck is mainly stock though doesnt have alot done to it. when you have big pipe and big chargers the drone gets bad
Ive got 5in stacks on my truck now and previously had 4in straight pipe with about the last 6 feet 5in. Stacks are deffinatly louder in the cab for sure. If your not into the throttle it isn't too bad but when I layinto it gets loud.
you might cram a muffler under there or try taller stacks "in my opinion look kinda silly" if you don't like loud. I've got a single 5in straight through and it gets kinda noisey especially if you drive long distance
I just got back from swimming down at the water, and i saw a 2nd gen pull through with twin stacks that stood atleast 3 feet above the cab, lol. It was straight no muffler, and didn't sound abnoxious at all, i liked it alot, but 3 feet above the cab was alittle funny. I think u'll notice it alot more in the cab like has been said, but not much outside.

They are alot louder in the cab. I had 5" straight cut stacks, and I took them off and put a 4" turboback on. When I had the stacks you couldnt talk on the phone while driving on the highway.
Also, the stacks I had had no muffler, and the turboback does.
I do alot of highway driving, and after about 4 hours I would have a headache from the noise.
Its not like Im old (32), I also have a 88 mustang that I run at the track
(10.60s-1/4mile) and that as open headers.

So what do you guys think Should i go straight pipe 4" turbo to tip or 5 inch stacks straight pipe? I had a 4" straight on my 24 valve it was loud but a really nice sound. I guess i really don't want to spend the cash on stacks then not like them so im starting to lean toward 4" turbo to tip. Plus a friend told me if i get stacks we wont be able to have any fun at sonic anymore. I love blacking out Rice rockets...... I don't know guys i just dont know.
Pros of stacks Cool looking, People know its a diesel
cons of stacks no sonic fun, blocks out headache rack lights Cost
Pros of 4" Cheaper i know how it sounds
Cons of 4" not as cool as stacks
guess im stuck
