I have a friend that does sound stage set up for concerts and stuff who has a decibel reader, I will see if he'll let me borrow his tester and I'm going to find out for sure if my ol 12v is louder than a 3rd gen or not.

I have a 12 valve and a CR truck and the CR is definitely louder than the 12 valve.

CR exhaust just seems louder because you can hear it over the engine clatter.

I don't know about that......engine clatter......blah.....I've ridden in straight piped 12 and 24v's before, and the ultimate test is going under bridges. All the CR's have been noticeably louder...

Alright first off thanks for the input guys, didn't know i start a debate LOL!!
but anyways a buddy of mine has newer 2nd gen 24v (not quiet sure which year) but it's real throaty (not to sound stupid but it sounds just like a semi)

real loud is what i want. i want to be able to pull out of driveway and just drive my dad nuts. (he hates diesels) but whats the best way to make it sound like that.

Get a section of 5" pipe and a 5" elbow. Cut stock pipe just as it exits engine and is heading to the back end. Weld 5" pipe to that. Cut large hole in passenger floorboard. Trim 5" strait pipe to allow elbow to fit on and stick up thru floorboard. Try a 4000 rpm launch.

It'll be loud.

We're talking about the exhaust note, straight piped with no cat wide open NOT the engine noise itself......duh the 3rd gen engine is quieter

24v vs cr

my neighbor in texas has a 06. he had 4" straight pipe on it, and it was not even close to mine with the 7x36 stacks i got on her. at idle his seemed louder because his engine is much quieter than mine. but on the other hand a buddy over here in nc, shane, who is on this website, has 5"straightpipe on his cr and its pretty dang loud!!!! i think that they might be close, but the cr definately has a different tone to it. just my opinion though
