Horn

Something else that I found broke on my truck. I took it off roading this weekend and hit some muddy water pretty hard and now the horn doesnt sound as loud. You have to have the truck turned off to hear it and it worked the night before I went off roading. I have checked the wire conections at the horn itself and they are pluged in, but dont know where to go from here to fix it. I am in the Marine Corps and anytime I go home I have to have my truck checked and that means the horn has to work and I dont want to buy a new one if I dont have to, Thanks in advance guys.

Probably got water in the horn itself.

It'll probably dry out, or you can remove the horn and let it pour out.

Would I be able to disconect the horn and put water in there to wash it out and then let it dry or would that hurt it? Anyhow thank you for the advice

If you spray water up in there, flush it out with compressd air. Make sure to let it dry out for a day or two. Those horns are in a bad spot. Seems like a great place for mud and junk to really mess em up. Kevin

Every second gen i have driven and tried the horn in sounded like it came from a fairy mobile , i think a nice air horn up on the inner fender should solve the problem

Yes thank you very much for the input, I will try this and let you know how things go, now on the air horn. I plan on buying an air horn and I found the one I want with everything to go with it. Now do you think that I could just tap into the original horn wires and use that for my switch, also could I put on a double pull sing throw switch so that I could switch between the two horns using the factory horn button? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The stock horns are in a terrable location and are going to give up the ghost anyways , why not just hookup the air horn and forget about the stockers? Better off modified baby!
