Man, that makes me feel better. Bottom line.....shave the heads---no matter what!

That's (hopefully) the last time I make that mistake....

Thanks alot for your help. I might just buy that copper gasket anyway. What exact sealant do you use and how much aroung the water jacket areas?

just plain permatex clear silicon from the parts house. just put a small bead around each water jacket on the block and on the gasket before the head goes on. just a small bead.
