Help with idle problem
Help with idle problem
I was in an accident where I rear ended a small SUV. I hit the SUV in the left rear with right front corner of the truck. Not real bad damage on the truck. Did not bend frame, core support, didn't even damage the a/c lines.
Since the accident the truck has idled around 1000 rpm. It drives fine and seems to have the same power it always has, just idles high. I thought because of the collision the PCM may have went into a limp mode. I disconnected the battery but no luck. Any ideas what might cause this? Something in the pump shift from the impact? It's a 1995 2500 12V 4x4.
Thanks,
Jeremy

I would first check the 5" measurement for the short rod from the bellcrank to the IP. Don't really think it could have gotten bent, but strange things happen in wrecks. Past that, check to make sure you do not have a bind, which is common in these things, mine will pull that stunt if I park her for a couple of weeks. i lube the hooey out of all the linkage and she loosens up. Try and force the linkage at the IP closer to idle and see if it drops. Past that, you probably need to re-set the idle, simple procedure with a 10 MM wrench and skinny arms.
