Guages

Hey
I am getting ready to buy some guages. my question is:

Boost Guage: where do i attach the vacum end on the motor?
would one of those boost adapters work on my 12 valve?

fuel pressure: Should i really have one? and if so should i get one like you mount on the rail type on one for in the cab? and if i do get one for in the cab should i get one that goes from 0-30 psi or 0-100 psi

Fuel pressure is an excellent gauge to have.
Using it to indicate when to change your fuel filter will pay for the gauge by eliminating just one or two unnecessary filter changes.
I go 30-50k between fuel filter changes by using the gauge.
What you want is a 60 psi gauge.
A 30 will be pegged most of the time and a 100 won't read fine enough.

where can i find a 60# Guage at? all i find are 30 and 100 i would like for all the guages to match. Also what guage should i get one for the engine bay or one for the inside of the cab? and how do you Know when the filter needs changed buy the guage? I would guess there would be a differance in pressure if so how much?

I've seen a few vendors that offer 60 psi FP gauges, or you can use a boost gauge, it will work fine just won't say FP on it.
I'm not sure which companies offer a 60 psi FP gauge, you'll have to search.
Mine are Autometer Industrial that I bought for $6.99 here> https://www.surpluscenter.com/

Best to have a cab mounted gauge so you can watch the FP under load.

The way I use my gauge to tell when it's time to change the filter is when my normal steady state driving FP of 32 psi drops 3-5 psi.
With a 100 psi gauge a pressure drop that low would be hard to see.
What's also nice about a 60 psi gauge is it points straight up at spec pressure.

also, you want your gauges to look the same, or match styles?

i recommend the 30 psi gauge because proper fuel pressure would put you pointing upwards somwhere in the middle-ish between 10-20. with a 60 psi the needle would be pointing way to the left for proper fuel psi.

i went with the 30 because most gaues (excluding rmp/speed) have the 'normal range' pointing up or in the middle-ish area . . . for me it makes it easy to tell 'normal form abnormal' at a quick glance . . .

He has a 12V - he needs a 0-60 psi guage bubba...

I just hooked up my boost and fuel pressure gauges from Isspro and had a couple of questions.

I'm only seeing around 20 PSI boost if I get into the pedal real good. Is this low? What should a stock truck be getting on boost? (97 12 valve)

Second, my fuel pressure guage is around 18 psi at idle in the morning but when the engine is warm drops to around 14 or 15 psi. This is lower than the specs I have seen somewhere. I replaced the fuel filter and it didn't help. Also, it doesn't go much above 20 when under load. Any deas? Ive seen a trouble shooting checklist floating around but cant seem to find it now.

Hmmmm a 60PSI on the fuel, over 45 PSI and you will blow your seals on the injectors (Stock). I have a 30PSI (which shows 35psi) and it sits around 25 and 20 when under heavy load 15000Lbs and down to 15 when on a steep hill. Did have a 60psi,, did not like it never gave the accuracy the 30 does , and when the pressure never go’s over 25PSI whats the point

But the best gauge you can fit on your 12v, that and the exhaust temp

60 psi is best because normal is the needle pointing about straight up.
I see 32 psi at 70 mph flat land and consider this my baseline.
See up to 40 psi going downhill no throttle.
