are you talking about the "wait to start light?" i thought this was for the glow plugs.

If thats what you are talking about then yes it is normal or at least every 12V i have seen does it.

Mine does that too. Not always, but most of the time even when it is warm. If it is middle of the summer I don't pay too much attention to it, not sure why it does it, maybe some kind of self-check?

By the way, no "glow plugs" on these, just grid heaters.

Don't think the grids are really coming on during this time, it's part of the bulb check cycle.
You can check by seeing if the voltmeter drops while the light is on.

Take the bulb out if it bothers you

My truck had no bulb in the "wait to start" socket when I got it - never realized it until I went into the dash to change some other bulbs and discovered it missing. Almost looks like I have a gasser heater control since it was also missing another bulb that is specific to the diesels (can't remember which one off the top of my head).

Apparently hasn't caused any issues because I have put 150K+ miles on it and still no bulb.

This isn't a ford, just because the light comes on doesn't mean you have to wait to start. Just hit the key immediatley and go!

P.S. My truck hasn't even had grid heaters for the past couple years. Still cold-starts fine in 17deg mornings
