On the 12 valve trucks, vehicle speed is controlled by the engine governor. All gears are governed by max engine RPM. Your engine is governed to the same RPM in 5th as it is in 4th. 24 valve trucks do have a max vehicle speed programmed into the computer, but I don't think it's gear sensitive.

All you have to worry about is the State Police. The engine may not rev quite as high in 5th as in 4th due to the higher load, but with your foot on the floor the 12 valve is giving you all she's got in any gear. If you put a 3k or 4k GSK in, the truck will gain more top speed. A little figgerin' with a calculator will tell you your theoretical top speed with either GSK. The turbo allegedly shipped today, time will tell.

stock 96mph with counseling classes: $50
Fuel plate tinkering and some other mods: $10
Piers' 3,000rpm governor spring kit: $125
Knowing that the 105mph you're going isn't done fully defueling yet (and the fact that you may be able to keep up with the NETDP crowd in the highway): Priceless!
