Fuel Shutoff Soleniod

Does anyone know a cheap place to get one? Mine went out, everytime I start the truck I have to turn the key to "on" and then manually lift the arm up and make it stay up to start the truck and drive it. Would it hurt anything to just zip-tie it up? Could I rig up a choke cable or something to do it all manually from inside the cab? Thanks

The solenoid rarely goes out. Have you checked the relay?, the solenoid boot?, the wiring? You can also just ditch the solenoid and put in a PTO cable to open/close fuel shutoff. (then hide it real well!!)

All connections are clean and together very snug, How would I tell if it was the relay? The boot is also fine...

also follow the blue wire from the solenoid and look for cracks. corrosion is looseness...usually the wire is at fault somewhere

but if u think u really need it then:

I think your truck is like my '98. If so, there are actually 2 circuits for the fuel solenoid. One pulls the valve open while the starter is engaged and the other holds it there until the key is turned off. Your lift circuit is the one with the problem, that's why you can pull it up manually and have it keep running. Make sure you check both circuits.

My relay was on the fire wall kinda of on the drivers side. Don't zip tie up the solenoid you won't be able to shut your truck off.

like mentioned its one of the two relays on the firewall, have you checked your pull-in voltage? the solenoid aint cheap and more than likely you dont need one.

Hmm I think I am going to check all this stuff out, if I just kill the truck by stalling it and leave the key to run I can still go through the drive thru, but won't/don't do that for long periods of time. Thanks ya'll!
