I am thinking of upgrading to a 1998 Dodge Cummins from my old 1989 Dodge Cummins. The 1998 is consideably quieter but the family finds it still too noisy. Has anyone tried additional noise supprission material on the floor and firewall and has it been effective? I may upgrade to the 2003 Dodge with the common high pressure fuel rail but I love the durability of those 1996-1998 year models with the p-pump. They can't be beat.

 

When I first bought my 98 one thing I was impressed with was how quiet it was in the interior. Most people who ride in my truck are surprised how quiet it is for a "Diesel". I know a guy that comes to our diesel club Dinner meets and he spent the time and put the sound proof material down in the cab of his 2001 he's got twin turbo's but I was surprised mine still seemed quieter? It seems like somenone is making a kit with sound deadening material for the cabs of our trucks. Hope this helps.
