Fuel Problem?

I bought a 95 2500 about two months ago with 160,000. I have been driving alot and have had no problems until last weekend. I had been driving for about an hour when it started bogging and running really rough. When I would let off the throttle it would die out, but it would instantly start back up and run fine for a 15-20 miles than I would start having problems again. I brought it home and changed the fuel filter. The next day I went for a ride and it ran fine for about two hours and then started giving me the same problems. Anybody have any ideas what to check next? A friend told me to check the fuel shutoff solenoid so I am going to replace that tonight. Thanks for any help

You might check the fuel sender in the tank. I had a Chevy , 6.2 that would suck the sock in the tank into the supply line and restrict the fuel flow so much it would quit. The truck was easier to diagnose that the CTD's because it had twin tanks and all I had to do is switch tanks when it started loosing power. I cut the socks off and no more problem!!

DON'T REPLACE THE SOLENOID!!!
Likely nothing is wrong with it unless it is very visibly burned up on the outside.
The solenoid is probably the most needlessly replaced item on a 12 valve, expensive too. The solenoid is a very simple, sturdy device that will easily last the life of the truck. It either works or it doesn't, there is no such thing as one getting weak.
The problem is almost always a corroded blue wire from the driver's side battery or a bad relay on the firewall. The rubber boot that protects the solenoid can fall apart allowing gunk and rust to bind the solenoid, clean it up and replace the boot.
Relay and boot are availible for a good price here http://www.fostertruck.com/dodge/default.htm
