Auto Trans cold weather performance

On a cold morning the auto tranny on my 1995 3/4 ton will sometimes take 3 or 4 miles at 50-60 mph before it will shift into high gear. Just wondering if this is normal or should I be worried?

Completely normal , the trans has to get warmed up before the PCM will allow O/D , or lockup , you can unplug the sender in the tranny line and jump it with a 1000 ohm resitor , which tells the PCM that the tranny is at 100 deg. Infidel assures me this will not hurt the tranny at all.

It won't hurt it in the cold but if you jump the sensor with a resistor your overheating idiot light won't work either. Don't jump across the sensor wires unless you have a trans temp gauge.
