Fuel problem?

Fuel problem?
After sitting for a day, my truck will start right up, but will begin to sputter after 5 seconds then kill. In order to start it again, I have to floor it, then it sputters again for a couple of seconds while blowing out black smoke. After that it's fine. Is it an air leak in the lines?

The rubber fuel lines tend to get pin hole after a number of years. I would replace them with diesel rated hose from the tank all the way to the injection pump.
