fuel priming?
It is just a little bulb, it is on the lift pump. Normally I cheat if I'm just changing the fuel filter I fill the filter with diesel then fire it up and run it at a fast idle until the air is purged.
I didnt have enough fuel to fill filter only about a quarter of the way. then I fired it it ran for about ten seconds then nothing. I am having one hell of a time getting fuel to pump.

If you are working on a 94-98 12 valve, the primer is on the right side of the fuel pump. It has a rubber cover over the plunger. Just push it in to prime. If you have a pre 94, you have a lever on the side of the fuel pump that you push down to prime. Crack open the bleeder on top of the fuel filter, then on the overflow valve, towards front of pump between the pump and block. Then crack the inj lines, and crank the eng until you get fuel out the inj lines. Tighten up the line nuts and start it up.
All you need to do is crack bleeder on filter housing and pump primmer button [ I use a broom haddle and pump without reaching down in the engine ]
When fuel comes out there close bleeder.
then pump another 12~15 times or untill you hear overflow valve hum.
Then start truck with no probs.
But if you already have air in the injection lines it may have to crank a few turns and run rough for a few seconds.
