Fuel filter

Since I have a supply of K-1 kerosene and no diesel fuel as yet,can I:
Use the kerosene to fill the canister after changing the fuel filter?
Would this create any problems?Thanks.

Is it filtered? If it is you probably could, might run a little rough till its out of the system. Dunno I've read you can run these on kerosene but I've never seen one run it in person.

Whats wrong with just hitting the primer button 50-100 times and ruling out any problems?

You should probably mix a little light oil with it. Not as critical with the P-7100, but would not hurt.

The first time I changed my filter I used K-1 kerosene to prime the system. Did not hurt a thing, but mix some oil in to lube the pump.

50-100 is out of range, but I re-fill my cannister this way. I think I pumped it 30 times. It started right up with no problems the first time.

Use a broom stick to reach the plunger.

I never use the primer or prefill the filter. Open the bleed screw on top of the filter housing and pressurize the fuel tank with an air blow gun wrapped in a rag. Takes about 15 seconds to fill the filter and purge all air.
Of course you have to have an air compressor though.

I heard of a mechanic up here that primes ALL diesel filters with ATF, good or bad

BAD!
ATF is designed not to burn and will leave damaging ash deposits in your engine.
Some people prime with straight diesel fuel additive with no problem, I personally don't see any advantage to it though.
