Front rotors..... best way to remove?

So I have to replace front rotors on my '97 2500 4x4 I have done these before they were just a pain inna but to get off!! Any help or ideas would be appreciated!!! I know there is a better way than just beating the heck out of them. Thanks in advance as I know good help will arrive in a few short hours!!!

Use a socket and extension to act as a press while you turn the steering wheel. The socket goes on the loosened bolt head that holds the bearing to the knuckle, and the other end of the extension goes against the end of the axle.
Either use a press or a brass punch to remove the wheel studs without galling them.
Make sure to clean up the inside surface of the knucle and the outside of the bearing before you reassemble. Also, put a bit of anti-sieze on the outside of the bearing so it's easier to get apart next time.

Yota,

I have only owned a 3rd gen and the rotors come off all by themselves. Are the older trucks rotors part of the hub assembly?

yes the rotors are "pressed" together with the wheel bearing by the wheel studs.

the best way to get them off is to have the brake shop do it, the second best way is infidels method shown above.

After doing numerious brake jobs to my 98 I switch out the axels to the newer style front and rear axel. imo it is the best mod I ever did to my 98
