Question Red Threadlocker time to set?

Hi everyone,

I would like to know how long till red threadlocker set?

If the gear cover seal has the red silicone on it like mine did you want no locker. In very small letters mine said install dry as also stated by the cummins parts man and an article I found.

Hi,

Yes it is the gear cover seal and I think the dry install refers to not putting any oil or grease on the teflon inner part of the seal. I put the threadlocker on the outer dia. as per instructions. Hope that is right as it is done deal now. 1 hour dry time or so. Thanks cj360trider for the info.

I've never put any sealant on the OD of the seal, and its never leaked.

i guess the sealer is kind of his "insurance policy" against a leak. usually unless i need to seal threads if im installing a metal bolt into iron or steel i ding the threads on the bolt just slightly so it acts like a lock bolt. thats what i did with my KDP tab bolt. but if its a steel bolt into aluminum definitely i use threadlocker
