I am swaping out the front axel on my 98 with a 01 has any one done this. Their are several reasons I am doing this
1) is to match my rear gear set
2) brakes are much easier to service(rotors)
3) big brake upgrade with a 03 rotor
4) dual piston calipers

Has any one done this swap?

 

Nope, but if I find a decent price on a front axle, I will do it in a heartbeat.

About the only thing i could think of is ABS vs non-ABS. They are both CAD Dana 60's.

 

I think it will swap right in I am in the middle of doing it. I have got the old one out and the new one slid into place the abs plug in's even look like they will match up

 

I have ran into a few issues with the swap, the new 01 axel did not come with the cad so I was just going to use the old one off of the 98 and it will not fit. The u joint on the drive shaft will not bolt up to the yoke it is a different size and one of my guy moved the dually spacer for the axel. I had it setting on a work bench and they are no wear to b found. any one have any of the parts I need?
