Free 3k GSK , a little disappointed
I just put some washers in my govenor springs. They were less then 1 " in diameter, 3/8" center diameter, .088 thickness. When I measured the preload before I removed the keepers one of them was .016 and the other was .035. This confused me, so after I put the washers in I just made them both .045. The truck will free rev to 3600 easy, on the road its a different story. It revs to 2500/90 mph. Another interesting thing is it wont start without some pedal foreplay now. I was a little disapointed with this guess I expected more of a hot rod. It was idling at 1250 after the washers were added so I turned the idle back down to 700. Its got 238,000 miles on it, maybe its just startin to wear out? I wonder if i tightened the keeper down to .050 if it would make much of a difference? If anyone has any ideas I'd sure like to hear them......thanks.

First thing is, your idle is to low,,, your idle should be approx 750 - 800 in park with A/C on. I set mine to .030 on my springs and it runs great, pulls hard to 3100 easily. My washers were only .070 to tho, that may make a difference to

I would tighten the springs a click or two, bump the idle back up, and see it that helps. I have mine set at .050 and it pulls hard to about 3400. I do have springs instead of the washers.

here is what i told ya in the other thread:!
You have your springs too tight, and your idle screw too low (thats why it doesnt start without pedal.) so loosen your springs a click or two, and higher your idle, and done!
good luck!

Yeh sorry about the typo.....the inner diameter is 1/2". Anyone have any opinion on the washer thickness, these washers were .088, they were some oddball washers I had laying around, the center hole was half inch didnt have to drill them, outer was under an inch. Im fixin to go out and loosen em up to .035 because thats where one side was set at. I'm not sure why the other side was set at .016 or there abouts.....I could turn the keeper with my fingers on that one...I think it must have come loose which may explain why I was getting so much rattle when I would hit 2200 rpms before this mod. I dont notice that rattle now.
