Got a fnt crank seal for this truck i am working on tonight. I opened it up and found lots of extra stuff. The seal driver i understand...but the rubber o-ring thing....i dont. Could some one explane what the use of this "ring" is for? I dont see a purpose but why would they include it!!!!!

 

The ring is a dust cover. THere should be instructions in the seal box. It goes on after the seal is installed.

 

Funny Thing thoes directions.......unclear and really crappy unlighted photos. Think i understood them better in French when i read them! Onto my second seal today....i messed up the first one last night...pinched the outter seal lip between the crank and my hammer! Man that is a PITA to get in! I am going to pull the fnt cover again.....and install in on the flat ground. I must have been chasing my tail for almost 45 mins last night....untill i popped the seal the wrong way......what a way to end the night.....ironicly it was the most expensive part on the list! Live and learn!!!!!!!! Thanks!
