Fluidampr (review).
I just installed my new Fluidampr and wanted to share my experience with everyone and especially anyone that is on the fence about buying one. After searching the Internet for any information both pro and con. I decided to go ahead on take a chance and buy one. Installation was straight forward except on my 1996 the Damper has the notches to trigger the tach sensor and because the Fluidampr is slightly larger in diameter the original sensor now has to be relocated to a different position. They now include a sensor relocation kit with the purchase of the damper. They want you to cut the wires on both sides of the OEM connector going to the sensor and they give you a new connector with longer wires that they want you to install in place of the original connector using solderless crimps. This all was not necessary, all I did was peel the wire out of the Loom (plastic wire bundle) to give me enough length to reach the sensor in its new location. This way the OEM connector is still used and if the sensor has to changed out in the future then it is just “Plug and Play”. I figured this product was going to be one of those things were once it is installed there would be no noticeable difference, just the thought that it's suppose to be better so it must be better. When I took the truck for a road test, I couldn’t believe the difference! I mean WOW! The engine is so smooth and much quieter. In fact, my wife even noticed the difference and that’s saying something. She’s like whats wrong with your truck? “It’s sounds so different”. Going down the highway now I can’t even hear the engine over the road and wind noise. The only cons that I could find is: 1.The Fluidampr is quite a bit heaver the OEM damper and from my racing days adding more weight to your recipicating mass is bad. 2.When using the sensor relocation kit, now you have to remove the sensor to be able to change the belt (not really a big deal). The bottom line is, it made a very noticeable difference and I feel it was money well spent and it makes my truck a pleasure to drive now. Disclaimer, my opinion is worth what you paid for it, nothing!
The new location is at 3 O'clock and is now in the way as the pulley is behind the damper you have to get the belt past the sensor and it is spaced .050" from the damper. The OEM position is at 12 o'clock and it is inside the belt because the belt does not wrap around the pulley at that position. Another way of thinking about it is, the belt drops down and wraps around the damper pulley like the letter U so there is room at the top for the sensor, but not on the side. Seldom do I buy a product that exceeds my expectations. All I can say is it appears to work as advertised. Had I of known what I know now, I would of bought one a long time ago. Whether it is any good for the engines health remains to be seen.

That's a nice looking bracket. Actually, I am intrested in installing a G56 to too (some day). I just can't over the difference with this damper.
Another thing I noticed after driving with my new Fluid Damper is when going up a hill in a taller gear and the RPM fades down I used to get allot of drivetrain noise and then it would be time to downshift. Now, I can take it all the way down to 900 RPM (lug it) with no drivetrain noise or rattle. I don't normally drive my truck like that but I cant believe the difference. You would think they would put one in from the factory. If I were to buy a brand new truck today, the second thing I would buy is a Fluidampr! Every time I drive my truck, I am reminded of how nice and smooth the engine is and I spend about 2 1/2 hours commuting round trip to work. Honestly! this is one product that has far exceeded my expectations.
