First trip with rig since all mods in place

Well I just got back from My first trip pulling a full load, 11' Lance truck camper. And 24' enclosed trailer loaded down with bikes. About 21,000 lbs. I went about 1,050 miles mostly flat lands. Averaged about 13.2 mpg. at 65 mph. Had way more power than I needed most of the time. Did have to pull it down out of OD on some of the longer hills. Overall I am very pleased with the combination of power and fuel mileage, Most times the EGT wouldn't get over 1200 with temp probe in front of turbo. But on the longer hills the egt temp is what forced the downshifts. I think I should go with a bigger turbo. I have thought about either the ATS 3000 or the B&D. Has anyone had any experiance with these turbo's, And would they help to lower the EGT's on the long pulls. Thanks in advance

My truck is very similar to yours. I carry an Arctic Fox 1150 camper, with a GCW of 13200 lbs. I don`t have a answer to your question, but I do have some of my own....How did you fit 265 tires on your duel wheels? Do you have factory rims, or after market. Are they different from my 96?

Very similar here too. I carry a jeep on an open trailer behind mine though. I gross 17,500. I also have a little more fuel than you with my 330 injectors. It will pull any hill in OD without pegging the pyro, but sometimes I have to downshift in order to cool down the water temp. I guess the waterpump is turning too slow at that rpm??

I am running a Phat Shaft 62 turbo...very little lag and cools nicely. I got it when they were on sale...$1150 if i remember right, I also had to pick up a 4 inch downpipe because the hx35 has a smaller output than the PS62.

I run 265/75/R16's on the stock wheel's with 1" spacer plates. And yes they do rub. But I run a set up like that on my f 350 for 8 years and never wore holes in the sidewalls like everyone said I would. With the same basic load, But a 460 gasser. Now that rig burned some fuel!

youre probably pushing the limits of that stock turbo if you add any more fuel. And you dont list a built trans so im assuming thats stock (wont last long stock)
Id also look into the industrial turbos like the phat shaft. Youll want to make some serious decisions about whats most important, spool time or EGT when towing. Some room for growth is good too. Maybe a super phat shaft 64 and some bigger fueling mods?
Youll probably want to upgrade the delivery valves and injectors soon

The trans is fairly new about 20,000 on it. I had the banks triple plate converter installed at that time. And the TCI valve body kit. Thats what My tranny guy suggested. I know I know but when this one shells out I will go with the Gorend. As for upgrading the fuel system I think I will wait untill I upgrade the turbo. As it is now it's making all the power I need. I just want to get the EGT's down a little. But if the new turbo will allow it I will probably up size the DV's and Sticks. I just gotta decide what turbo I want. I am looking for a few more opinions from guy's that use them to pull a heavy load. I've heard from one guy that uses a phatshaft 62. Anyone else used a B&D or ATS 3000 for pulling? Thanks for all the help
