I am trying to diagnoss a problem in the 97, 47re ,wich at first I thouoght was the trams not going into overdrive. after alot of searching here, I now Know it is the tourque converter not locking up in overdrive. so, I decided to wire a mystery switch to see what would happen. I can now manually lock the converter in third but still nothing in overdrive. is there any possibility it could still be the solenoid or is it definetly clutch slippage?

If it is clutch slippage , Can I just swap the torque converter or do I need to have the tranny rebuilt.

If I can swap the converter, can i put in a performance converter without a performance valve body?

 

i did install a new speed sensor and a new overdrive solenoid
I did not replace the tps yet
