Swapping 5spd for 6spd tranny

I own a 96 2500 4x4 with a V10. Can you swap a 5spd for a 6spd tranny with out any problems. I have done some research and I believe there shouldn't be any problems but I would like to make sure. That I'm also wondering if any one has done this before. Thanks for any help with this.

i beleive one is shorter than the other wich means you will need different driveshafts. why the switch?

My 5spd lost it's 5th gear and I was think if I was going to replace the tranny why not go with a6spd instead. I think the 6spd is better ?

You might neeed different cross member, and you will have to move it back. I think a clutch upgrade is needed??
If you google 5 speed or 6 speed conversion, there are a couple of companies that sell kits to do this.

When u say you lost 5th gear are you sure that it didnt just fall off the shaft like happens to all of these 5 speeds. Do a search on losing 5th gear.

the 5 speed is alot tougher tranny, it has alot of aftermarket support. like diesel dan said it probably just fell off.
