filter change time

Been putting this off way too long , time to change the fuel filter , but i need to know what the steps are , mostly for bleeding , and starting after the change .

already have the filter , cartridge type , i assume that nut on the top of the filter housing releases it?

Yeah the nut on top releases it......First disconnect the electrical connector from the filter.....its the water in filter connection.....this will give you more room to move around in there......then flip the lever to drain the filter into a catch can......drain it drop the filterhousing....remove the old filter and gaskets......install new filter prefilled and the new gaskets..reassemble all and hook your water in fuel connector back...

PS besure to flip the drain lever back to closed before trying to refill...

Also i usually fill a new filter with half fuel half additive to give the injectors a good cleaning....Just my rationale....wont state which additive i use but you can make your own decisions....good luck, zack

oh yeah, sorry, but if its hard to start after prime it by pumping the rubber *button* on the lift pump about a million times.....or crank it over a million times if you have good batteries...I never have probs restarting mine when i do the additive/fuel prefilled filter.

Another filter to check is in the prefilter housing which has the warmer in it....There is a sediment screen which can get clogged in there and result in low fuel flow....

changed the filter today , went well besides dropping that 14mm wrench about 10 times , the old filter was BLACK , so i think it has been a while since it was changed.

I couldn't figure out a way to get the canister full and get it in there without spillin , or a way to get in in there and fill it without spilling , so i just used the manual bleeder , it only took a min , fired right up first try.

Put a new thermostat while i had the hood up.

I really appreciate all the help!

Youll find that your fuel filter will always be black.

Are there any different instructions when changing the fitler on the prime lock relocation system? I'm new at this and will need to change my filter here in a couple three months (it was just changed at the shop a couple of weeks back).
