Factory Wheels

I have a guy looking to sell me his factory aluminum wheels off of his 01 Dodge 2500 for a great price, will they fit on my 96? I thought I read something where they will rub on the front end somewhere?

Sorry to say but they don't fit. You'll be able to install them and tighten the lugs up but the inside of the wheel will be jammed on the steering knuckle.

Jamming on the steering knuckle , that is news to me, I was always told they would just not clear the drums , unless you ground them down , so put on newer drums...

I never tried a new style wheel on the back. When I tried one on the front it jammed so hard I dug a 8' long trench in a campsite trying to move the truck. The upper portion of the steering knuckle was the only thing I could see that it jammed on. I had to stick a piece of firewood between the tire and frame and crank the wheels to get it off. I guess you could try it and see if you have better luck.

They will fit if you turn a little bit off the rear drums. It is not a big deal at all.

I have heard of a few guys having problems on the front end but I think that was on 2wd trucks.

It definately wouldn't work on the front of my 4X4. Your best bet would be to try before you buy.

Not sure on your 96 but they didn't fit my 98. I read everywhere that all I would have to do is grind or turn down the rear drums (this part was easy) and grind the steering arm a little. After taking off enough of the arms to get the wheels on, they still rubbed on the tie rod when turning left.
