Exhaust with or without cat? Pyro? also.
Exhaust with or without cat? Pyro? also.
Ok, my new to me 94 has 4" straight back from the cat. How do you guys like the sound of your exhaust without your cat? Is there even a noticable difference? I wouldnt mind it a little quieter, but the turbo sound is what i am really looking for. what do i need to do to acomplish this? Also, right now the downpipe is 3" till it gets to the cat, then 4" after that. Would a 4" make a difference in sound or performance? Lastly, what is a safe EGT reading PRE turbo? Thanks for the help guys.

There is a difference without the cat. It is a bit louder but nothing like a 24 valve
. The smell is different also. What you should notice without it is better response when taking off down the road.

the cat will kill the turbo whistle more than a straight through muffler... to really hear the turbo scream w/ the silencer removed, you need an open filter like a BHAF
safe sustained EGT is 1250 or so. for a a few seconds, you can go higher... I see 1600* often
