Excessive oil on side of p7100

There is alot of oil on the drivers side of the pump and it has leaked all over the drivers side motor mount. After driving almost 2000 miles in five days there was oil dripping off the fuel pre heater. What could cause all this oil to be coming from the pump? It is below the AFC only and doesnt seem to be coming from the AFC. Thanks.

Look very closely... I bet its a valve cover...

EDIT: Run some dye in it...

Valve cover gaskets have been changed recently and inspected quite a bit with all the valve noise I think I have. They arent leaking. Again, this is only under the AFC, not above. I thought there was some kind of plug on the pump that was prone to leaking?

It's amazing how reading many posts we can relate with SAME EXACT PROBLEM happening.

My son in law '98 12v has same problem, but it feels more like fuel than oil.

There is the return line to pump that has a fitting and it was a little loose, I tightened it and we'll see what's happening.

Don't want to pursue the issue, but I did my gaskets with the Cummins Grey and pinched one ever so slightly...

Took me a month to find that leak

I also have the grey gaskets and they have been on and off at least six times. I cleaned the pump really well and just need to check where it is coming from now.

The seal under the afc could be out of place or maybe the govenor arm adjustment cover.

Theres a small oil seal on the throttle linkage that when bad, drips oil down the drivers side of pump. A local pump shop pointed this out to me . Hope this helps

I had a problem similar to this when I bumped my afc housing foward, oil leaked from between the afc housing and pump. Cleaned it up and ran a small coat of RTV sealant between the afc and pump and the leak stopped.

If the valves leak too often you might try and grind out a little of the inside of the valve cover maybe with a dremel, did that to my #6 valve and haven't had any leaks since.

Could be a shut off shaft or throttle shaft oil leak, happens alot, there is a Bosch bulletin for improvements to the shut off and throttle assemblies inside the governor
